We're out on site this week on nights carrying out some of the intrusive works to the legacy signalling system at Broomloan depot in Scotlands finest weather. This is a key work package that leads onto the validation of the new control system. Hitachi Rail Strathclyde Partnership for Transport

Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is the largest of Scotland’s seven regional transport partnerships. We run the Glasgow Subway, a host of specialist bus services and are responsible for delivering better public transport for all. SPT is the Regional Transport Partnership for the west of Scotland and was formed in 2006 as part of the transport framework created by the Scottish Government, which is made up of a national transport agency, Transport Scotland, and seven Regional Transport Partnerships. The SPT area comprises of the following council areas: East Dunbartonshire, East Ayrshire, East Renfrewshire, Glasgow City, Inverclyde, North Ayrshire, North Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, South Ayrshire, South Lanarkshire, West Dunbartonshire and the Helensburgh and Lomond area of Argyll and Bute. SPT’s role involves planning and delivering transport solutions for all modes of transport across the region, in conjunction with our member councils and industry partners. SPT is at the centre of the region’s transport planning; analysing all travel needs and developing the transport system for now and the future.

🌍 Making a difference in Lanarkshire: How Cycling UK’s Cycle Access Fund is transforming lives 🚴♀️ At Cycling UK, we believe cycling is more than just a mode of transport – it’s a pathway to creating happier, healthier and greener lives. Our Cycle Access Fund helps break down financial barriers to cycling by providing grants for bikes, equipment, and repairs, making cycling accessible for individuals and community groups across Lanarkshire. We hosted the Cycle Access Fund Showcase at CamGlen Bike Town, Rutherglen. The event brought together local residents, organisations, and partners to celebrate the lasting impact cycling has had on the region. 🎉 Impact Stories: ·               “This bike has allowed me to start cycling again after suffering from Long Covid. It’s exactly what I needed to improve my health and confidence. I’m so grateful for the freedom cycling gives.” ·               “Joan is a daily commuter who's bike was at end of life economic repair. With the rental scheme, she's able to afford to use one of the bikes every day for her ride to work.” ·               “Paul doesn't drive but helps out the local community on a daily basis - this meant he was constantly having to ask people for a lift or walk 9 miles to where he volunteers. With access to an ebike he can make the journey faster and also said he felt safer.” With ongoing support from Strathclyde Partnership for Transport, Cycling UK is committed to expanding access to bikes, increasing repair services, and creating more opportunities for individual ownership and shared-use cycling in Lanarkshire and beyond. 👉 Read more and get involved! https://lnkd.in/gkR5JMsn

This was fun! I'm privileged to enjoy a job which is refreshingly different each day. One which tends to bring themes, people and partnerships together as opposed to splitting them apart. The more and more I/we delve into the transport and mobility world the more I'm convinced that we can do better, that there is a wide frustration around car dependency, and that the barriers are not insurmountable. Yes, we are where we are, and its hard to visualise a fair, inclusive low-carbon transport network that isn't car dependent,...... as none of us have lived it,............ but some of the feedback and data gathered from partners over the last couple of years shows there is a CASE FOR CHANGE, particularly around high volume rural outdoor leisure destinations, and an economic argument for better transport choice as well as a moral one. We are in the privileged position of being able to tap into an international network, learn from case studies in Snowdonia, Catalonia, Canada and others, and adapt for the Scottish context. This fantastic Trossachs Explorer Pilot was supposed to subtly test out public and partner appetite for sustainable transport to "rural" high volume leisure destinations. It was hoped that the provision of a targeted high quality and branded service might change the tone of conversation around rural buses and sustainable travel choice, from skepticism and despondency to positivism and ambition. All indications are that it did this and more. Funders got it. Partners got it. Communities got it. Visitors got it. The media got it. 5,137 passengers used the service 52% of passengers travelled for free under the National Concession Card schemes, including young people under 22 and those over 60 75 + local businesses and community organisations were engaged to support its delivery 97% of scheduled services ran 16 drivers were specially trained to operate on the route 27 National Park Volunteer Rangers supported the project as ambassadors on the buses It's just a start but we are excited to see what the emerging National Park Mobility Partnership Team can build over the next couple of years. Our door is open if your interest is piqued. Huge congratulations and thanks to partners and personalities who were brave enough to support this pilot. Black leather, fully waterproof safety boots with rubber lug soles and 200 Joules steel toe cap impact protection. A steel midsole prevents sharp object penetration making the boots ideally suited to building sites and places where metal swarf is present on floors. The sole normally allows walking on hot surfaces up to 300°C and resists the build-up and conductance of static electricity - of most benefit when walking on synthetic carpets or near electrical machinery. The boots are water and absorption resistant, helping to keep feet dry in wet conditions. S3 classified. Manufactured to EN ISO 20345:2011.

SPT supports the Poverty Alliance with Challenge Poverty Week this October with today's theme being transport. 🚇 We believe everyone should have access to affordable and reliable public transport to ensure people have equal opportunities to undertake many activities such as going to work or school, attending hospital and participating fully in society. SPT's Regional Transport Strategy (RTS) is looking into areas such as the cost, availability, safety and security of public transport and how these can all be improved. The area of active transport is also key and plans on how to develop it to ensure it becomes an affordable transport option are in place. It has been wonderful to follow Josh at St Margaret Mary’s Secondary School's journey over the past year. Josh previously participated in an engineering work experience with Strathclyde Partnership for Transport and secured a place in an engineering course at Glasgow Kelvin College. With the support of his DYW Coordinator, Alanah Murphy, and our fantastic employers, Josh has now started an apprenticeship with First Bus. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for Josh! A huge thank you to our educational staff, partners, and employers for supporting our young people, helping them achieve their full potential, and preparing them for the world of work. Last week we held our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning to raise funds to help support the 3 million people living with cancer in the UK. Thanks to the generosity of staff members, various cakes and bakes were donated along with raffle prizes and donations, raising over £1150 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
